Ok.. and I can't get into the cathedral because its barricaded pretty tight.. and the necrotech lab was barricaded so i can't enter that either.. and im stuck OUT in the open!

You need to get the Free Running skill so you can traverse into stronger barricades, for now you should at least find a building that is barricaded somewhat. As for the operation forums, I have no clue.
